We are delighted to share some good news: VDiQ IP Services has been recognised by IP STARS in Norway, while our founder, Steven van Dijk, continues to be recognised as a Patent Star.
For us, this recognition has a special significance.
Steven has been recognised by IP STARS as a patent practitioner for several years. But when VDiQ IP Services was established as a new and independent intellectual property firm, we effectively started again — with a new name, a new firm and our own position to build in the market.
Seeing VDiQ IP Services now recognised by IP STARS therefore feels like an important milestone.
A new firm built on established patent expertise
VDiQ may be a relatively young firm, but the experience behind it is not.
As patent attorneys in Norway with an international practice, we provide patent and intellectual property services to technology-driven companies seeking to protect and make strategic use of their innovations.
Our work ranges from patent drafting and patent prosecution to patent strategy, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, patent portfolio management, validity assessments and strategic IP advice. As European patent attorneys, we assist clients with European patent applications and proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO), as well as coordinating patent protection internationally.
We work particularly closely with technology companies, start-ups, SMEs and international businesses operating in fields such as software and artificial intelligence (AI), electronics, telecommunications, optical networking, mechanical engineering, medical technology and industrial technology. This includes advising on patent protection for software and AI-related inventions as well as innovations across the wider engineering and technology sectors.
The common denominator is innovation — and the question of how intellectual property can best support the client’s business.
More than obtaining a patent
For us, good patent advice is not simply about obtaining a patent.
A patent only becomes truly valuable when it supports a commercial objective. That may mean protecting a core technology against competitors, creating freedom to invest in a new product, strengthening the company’s position towards investors or business partners, building an international patent portfolio, or creating intellectual property that can later be licensed or otherwise commercialised.
That is why our approach combines technical understanding, patent law and commercial IP strategy.
Whether we are helping an inventor with a first patent application or advising an established technology company on an international IP portfolio, the objective remains the same: to create intellectual property protection that has genuine business value.
Recognition that means something to us
Independent professional rankings are never the reason for doing the work. Ultimately, what matters is the trust that clients place in us and the quality of the advice we provide.
Nevertheless, recognition by an established international IP publication such as IP STARS is something we are genuinely proud of.
For Steven, being recognised again as a Patent Star is a continuation of recognition received over several years.
For VDiQ IP Services, however, being noticed and included in the IP STARS landscape in Norway means something more. It is a sign that the new firm is establishing its own position in the intellectual property market.
And that makes us both proud and grateful.
We look forward to continuing what we set out to do when VDiQ was established: providing high-quality, commercially focused patent and intellectual property advice with direct senior-level involvement, clear communication and an international perspective.
